With just three individually furnished guest rooms, a stay at The Old Vicarage is relaxed, personal and unhurried.

Whether you are visiting Dartmoor for walking, cycling, sightseeing or simply a few days away, Liz and Don aim to make you feel at home from the moment you arrive.

Our Rooms

Each of our three guest rooms is individually furnished, with its own style and outlook. All offer a welcoming place to return to after a day exploring Dartmoor.

Courtenay

A generous twin room with far-reaching views towards Plymouth Sound. Courtenay looks across the former tennis lawn and beyond towards the coast, offering plenty of space to settle in and enjoy your stay.

Strother

A spacious double room overlooking the garden towards Dartmoor. Strother is a bright and welcoming room with lovely views across the grounds and out towards the moor — a relaxing place to return to after a day exploring.

Woodman

A spacious king-size room with wide views across the surrounding countryside. Looking south towards Plymouth and the Sound and west towards Shaugh Prior, Woodman enjoys one of the broadest outlooks in the house.

£135 per room, per night, including breakfast

All rooms include complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee-making facilities, a hairdryer and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Guests have sole use of a bathroom during their stay. Strother and Courtenay can also be booked together as a family suite, with access to a Jack-and-Jill bathroom.

Rates are based on two people sharing. Single occupancy rates are available on request.

Breakfast at The Old Vicarage

Breakfast is an important part of a stay at The Old Vicarage, with plenty of choice to set you up for the day ahead.

Alongside cereals, muesli, porridge, fruit, yoghurt, croissants and juices, Liz and Don offer a range of cooked options including local free-range eggs, bacon and sausages from Palmers of Tavistock, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and hash browns.

Smoked salmon bagels and avocado are also available, together with a choice of toast, tea, coffee and hot chocolate.

All dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.

Dinner by arrangement

Dinner is available by prior arrangement at £27 per person, including a main course, dessert, cheese and biscuits, and a choice of wine, beer or soft drink.

Check-in & check-out
Check-in is from 2pm, although another arrival time can be arranged in advance. Check-out is by 10.30am.

Booking & payment
A deposit of £30 per night is required by BACS to confirm your booking. The remaining balance can be paid by card or cash during your stay.

Cancellation policy
If you need to cancel your stay, please let us know as soon as possible. Your deposit will be refunded in full if you cancel at least 7 days before your arrival date. For cancellations made within 7 days of arrival, the deposit may be retained if we are unable to re-let the room.

Dogs & smoking
The Old Vicarage does not accept dogs and is a non-smoking property.

Accessibility
All guest bedrooms are on the first floor and are reached by easy-rising stairs.

Arriving by train
Guests travelling by train can be collected from Plymouth or Ivybridge station by prior arrangement.
